    Last updated 3 months ago

New babies bring about many exciting changes for their mommies. While most of these adjustments are easy to accept, the changes to your body after pregnancy may not be. Having a baby causes permanent changes in a woman’s body that can’t be fixed with diet and exercise alone.

Instead of giving up on dreams of flat abs and firm breasts, more and more women are turning to plastic surgery and regaining control with a Mommy Makeover. Mommy Makeovers use a customized combination of cosmetic procedures to transform you from flabby to fabulous! This infographic from the Scottsdale Mommy Makeover specialists at Oasis Plastic Surgery offers a closer look at this popular new trend in cosmetic surgery. Feel free to share it with your other new mommy friends, too!

Getting the Facts: Inquiries for Your Doctor About Breast Augmentation

    Last updated 4 months ago

Before any cosmetic procedure, it’s important to discuss your options and expectations with your plastic surgeon. This will help you to understand the procedure and the results you can expect. Here are a few questions to ask during your breast augmentation consultation:

How Much Experience Do You Have with This Surgery?
Ask your surgeon how many breast augmentations she has performed and how recently. You may also want to ask to see before and after photos of other patients. This will help you to see how your plastic surgeon has handled previous patients.

    What Results Can I Expect?
Talk to your surgeon about how you want to improve your breast shape, size, and feel, and ask if this can be accomplished. You and your surgeon can work together to ensure that you have an understanding of what breast augmentation can achieve and that you will be pleased with your results.

What Are The Risks and Complications of This Surgery?
Any surgery has associated risks and complications. It’s important to understand what these are and how your surgeon plans to minimize them. If you are concerned about breastfeeding, possible loss of sensation, or even implant rupture, discuss your concerns until you are comfortable with the answers.

What Will My Recovery Be Like?
Before your surgery, make sure you understand how much downtime you will need and what to expect from your recovery. Find out what arrangements you may need to make, such as a family member to drive you home and help out for a few days. Your surgeon can tell you how you should expect to feel, what to look out for, and how long your recovery should take.

    The Liposuction Recovery Period

    Last updated 4 months ago

Liposuction is a minimally invasive cosmetic surgery created to help you sculpt your body and get rid of stubborn pockets of fat. The recovery period is minimal compared to many other procedures, and you will be back on your feet quickly.

Liposuction patients can return to work within a few days. You are encouraged to exercise early to help mobilize fat and fluid and maximize recovery. Within one to two weeks after liposuction, you will be completely back to your normal routine, feeling and looking great! You can learn more about liposuction recovery by watching this video.

For liposuction and other cosmetic options, call Oasis Plastic Surgery at (480) 619-5418. We offer plastic and reconstructive surgery as well as a variety of rejuvenating skin care treatments in our beautiful Scottsdale office. Visit our website to further explore our services.

A Guide to Your Tummy Tuck Recovery

    Last updated 4 months ago

A tummy tuck procedure can give you a sculpted abdomen by removing loose skin and excess fat. After your cosmetic surgery, it’s important to take time to rest and recover to maximize your results. Knowing what to expect after your procedure can help ensure a fast and easy recovery:

    The First Few Days

In most cases, you can return home the day of your cosmetic surgery. During your first 48 hours, you may feel significant discomfort. Your surgeon will prescribe pain medication; follow the instructions and don’t skip dosages during this time. You can remove your surgical dressings and shower with assistance 24 hours after surgery. However, don’t remove any skin tape that has been applied over your incisions. Eat light meals and snacks as needed and get plenty of rest.

You will be given a compression garment that should be worn anytime you are not showering until your plastic surgeon notifies you otherwise. If you have been given surgical drainage tubes, follow your surgeon’s instructions regarding emptying and recording the amount of fluid collected. These tubes will be removed within five to 15 days, depending on the amount of fluid collection.

    Extended Recovery

It may take some time to get back to your normal routine after your plastic surgery. Avoid still water, such as baths or swimming pools, for at least two weeks. As your appetite increases, you can resume your normal diet when you feel ready. Depending on your recovery, you should expect to take at least 10 days off of work, though you may be able to return slightly sooner. Exercise and other physical activities should be limited for up to six weeks or as your surgeon advises. Refrain from sleeping on your stomach or side until you are completely pain-free.

For more information, or to discuss what you can expect from your tummy tuck recovery, call Oasis Plastic Surgery at (480) 619-5418. Dr. Geoghegan and her staff are pleased to discuss your cosmetic options with you. To learn more, check out our website!
