Physical fitness and sound eating habits are the best ways to achieve a svelte physique. When exercise and diet cannot give you a toned midsection, however, you may want to consider a tummy tuck.
This video explains how tummy tucks work. This type of plastic surgery can help otherwise healthy individuals enhance their appearance. During this procedure, a Dr Geoghegan removes fat and excess skin from the abdominal area. In some cases, she may also reposition skin and muscle to create a firmer midsection. This surgery is ideal for individuals with stubborn fatty deposits, and can also help those with scar tissue from other surgical procedures.

Having a child can be a joyous and rewarding experience, but it can also drastically change the way a mother’s body looks. If you have been longing to get your pre-pregnancy body back but haven’t been able to through exercise, diet, and other means, you might consider looking into having a Mommy Makeover. A Mommy Makeover is a term for a number of cosmetic surgery procedures that can address many of the common complaints following childbirth. Keep reading to learn what procedures are often included in a Mommy Makeover.
Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and weight fluctuations as a result of these life changes can all cause your breasts to appear deflated, and to hang lower than they used to. A breast lift, also called a mastopexy, raises the breasts and makes them appear firmer by removing excess skin and tissue. It is important to know that while a breast lift can give you a more youthful shape and appearance, it won’t produce any significant changes in the size of your breasts. Some women opt to have a breast augmentation performed at the same time as a breast lift for a rounder, fuller appearance.
A tummy tuck also known as abdominoplasty, can help women who have given birth have a flatter, more shapely abdomen area. Many mothers find that even with proper diet and exercising, they are unable to lose the appearance of a bulging tummy due to the excess skin that is present. A tummy tuck removes this excess skin along with fat for a tighter, flatter stomach.
The weight you gain during pregnancy can be difficult to shed, especially those last five or ten pounds. If you are concerned about areas of fat that haven’t responded to diet and exercise, you may want to consider liposuction as part of your Mommy Makeover. Liposuction removes fat and helps reshape the area for a smoother contour. It can be performed on the thighs, buttocks, hips, abdomen, upper arms, and other parts of the body.
Get your pre-pregnancy body back with the help of Oasis Plastic Surgery & Skin Spa in Scottsdale. All of the procedures we perform for a Mommy Makeover are personalized just for you. Contact us at (480) 619-5418 to make an appointment to find out how we can help you look and feel your best again.

The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be approximately 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer diagnosed in U.S. women in 2014. The good news is that death rates from breast cancer have been dropping since 1989, and there are more than 2.8 million survivors of the disease in the U.S. If you are one of the many women who have been affected by breast cancer, you may be considering breast reconstruction surgery after a partial or full mastectomy. Keep reading to learn if breast reconstruction might be right for you.
What It Is
In many cases of breast cancer, surgery may be required to remove some or all of the affected breast. There are also cases where both breasts must be removed entirely to eliminate the cancer. Breast reconstruction is an option for women who have had part or all of at least one breast removed, and can restore self-confidence and improve quality of life. Dr Jennifer Geoghegan can rebuild the breast so that it is approximately the same size and shape as before.
Types of Breast Reconstruction
There are a few different ways that a plastic surgeon can perform breast reconstruction surgery. One option is to use a silicone gel-filled implant to replace the breast that has been removed. This can be done at the same time as the mastectomy, or in different stages after surgery. Other forms of breast reconstruction involve using tissue from the tummy, back, thighs, or buttocks instead of an implant. Your doctors will be able to tell you if you are a good candidate for these types of flap procedures.
Making the Choice
Only you can decide what is the right choice for you following treatment and surgery for breast cancer. While some women choose to have reconstruction right away, others may delay reconstruction based on personal feelings or on doctor’s orders. Consider the pros and cons of reconstructive surgery as you make your decision.
At Oasis Plastic Surgery & Skin Spa in Scottsdale, we believe strongly that every woman should have the opportunity for breast reconstruction if she so desires. Call (480) 619-5418 to discuss your situation and your unique recovery goals, and to schedule a personal consultation with our plastic surgeon.
