Getting Ready for Your Facelift

Plastic Surgery Scottsdale

A facelift can reverse age-related skin sagging and loss of muscle tone that causes the appearance of jowls, wrinkles, and deep creases. Dr. Geoghegan will explain what to expect during your procedure and how a facelift will help you reach your treatment goals. Because this is a lengthy procedure that requires an extended recovery, it is a good idea to take steps to prepare so you can have the best experience possible. Get ready for your upcoming facelift with these steps.

Get Lab Work Performed
Before your surgery, Dr. Geoghegan will take a complete medical history and perform an exam to ensure that this procedure is safe for you. She will likely order lab work to make sure you don’t have any unknown conditions that could interfere with your recovery. Be sure to have this lab work done in a timely manner. Failing to do so could delay the results of your tests, which could in turn make it necessary to postpone your procedure.

Make Adjustments to Your Medications
During your pre-surgery checkup, Dr. Geoghegan will also review your medications with you and may suggest that you either change the way you take some of them or that you avoid some of them for a period before your procedure. Be sure to tell your surgeon about all medications you take, even over-the-counter medicines, as some can increase the risk of dangerous bleeding during surgery. Make the adjustments to your medications your surgeon tells you to in order to avoid the risk of having to delay your procedure.

Set Up a Support Team
You will need someone to take you to and from your procedure, and may you need help around the house for at least a few days after surgery. Make arrangements with friends and family to be available to assist you as needed. Keep in mind that you won’t be able to do strenuous activities for two to three weeks.
